The last several months have been a flipping whirlwind. Literally, my husband and I have been flipping a flop of a house in Seattle’s Maple Leaf neighborhood since May. He and his small but mightily determined construction crew have beautifully transformed nearly every square inch themselves, while I have tackled the various design elements inside and out. The final stretch is upon us! We have each worked quite differently, kicking up dust along the way, but together have resulted as a damn fine team. Clearly opposites do attract: The beauty lies in the juxtaposition, the creation of an even sweeter mix than what we alone could have envisioned.
The takeaway? Don’t be afraid to combine low and high, a little rustic with your polish, some calm into your bold, or vintage alongside your contemporary (yes, even a little country with your rock-n-roll). Mixing indeed makes perfect.
